Frequently Asked Questions
What is mold?
Molds are fungi that can be found both indoors and outdoors. No one knows how many species of fungi exist but estimates range from tens of thousands to perhaps three hundred thousand or more
How much does mold remediation cost?
Typically the range could be anywhere from $1,500 to $10,000 for a home project which has visible mold. Our company uses an approved insurance pricing program which will estimate the amount and area of the mold.
How long is the mold remediation process?
A typical remediation can be anywhere from 1 day to 1 week depending on the job.
I think I may have mold, should I get a test?
Yes…..mold can grow in fiberglass insulation, on top of ceiling tiles, inside ducts, behind drywall panels, in wall cavities, and behind wallpaper. Even when it's visible, it's often impossible (even for an expert) to tell the difference between mold, soot, and dirt without testing
If I can’t smell the mold do I still have to be worried?
Yes…..mold can grow very well in complete isolation, inside wall cavities, between floors and ceilings, in attics. Not only can you not see hidden mold, if it's cut off from the flow of air that you're breathing, you're unlikely to smell it
Can’t I just kill mold with bleach?
Bleach is a solution of chlorine in water, usually 6 percent sodium hypochlorite, thus 94 percent water. Smearing bleach on mold may appear to kill it, but the effect is superficial and very temporary. Once the chlorine is gone (and it evaporates rapidly) what's left is all that water, feeding the mold.
If I rent my home is it the responsibility of the owner to clean it up?
If you feel your property owner, landlord, or builder has not been responsive to concerns you’ve expressed regarding mold exposure, you can contact your local board of health or housing authority. Mold generally fall under state and local (not federal) jurisdiction.
